Pet Treater Monthly Subscription Box Review and Giveaway – January 2016
It has been about 3 months since Meadow entered our extended family, and things are going great. In the past couple of weeks she has learned how to sit and stay and she knows her name. I think that the best thing that has come out of Meadow’s adoption is that it has made my father a happier person – which is good for everyone.
I started to think about the reasons and ways that dogs can add a positive influence in our life. The reasons are simple, but the science behind them are more complicated. The experts will say that animals bring calm, and from that calm can be lower blood pressure and an overall sense of peace. I know for our family now that Meadow is around there is a lot less aggressive speaking and less agressivee attitudes since we don’t want to scare the puppy. I think that it more that we impart human emotions on our animals and feel they feel the same as us.
Meadow was 9 weeks old on her arrival into my father’s life, and I can say that almost 12 weeks later, they are the best of friends. Since she is still a puppy, there is a lot of trial and error in her preferences towards toy and treats. In this situation the best thing is to purchase a monthly gift box, so that an assortment of toys and treats are received. A box making a big splash in the pet gift box market is Pet Treater. It is obvious when you receive a Pet Treater box that they are distinguishing themselves in the pet box field.
This is my third Pet Treater review, and as the previous boxes I reviewed the medium dog box. I received a very thoughtfully curated football themed box that was “pawsome” with a cute theme of “Fun & Football Fit”. With the cute theme, is also a request to pledge to play more in 2016!
Here is a breakdown of the items that were in my/Meadow’s January Pet Treater box:
Multipet International Football: This was an instant hit and Meadow was so excited by it she ran away with it. This is just like a football that you would throw to your human best friend, despite the fact that it is soft and plushie. Meadow claimed this toy as her own, and there was no turning back, a hit to say the least.
Treats: These are all-natural raw treats that are gluten-free, grain free, use fresh ingredients and are locally grown and all natural. The box had two bags included, which gave one for Meadow and one to share with her many puppy pals. These freeze-dried treats are a combination of ground chicken, cucumber, radish and kale. My father is holding off giving Meadow certain treats until she gets older and her tummy develops a bit more so these will be held for a couple more months.
Orange Plushie: Meadow loved this and if I had to guess I think the most of everything. I took this toy out first to use as a distraction from her getting to the rest of the box and it worked – she was adequately distracted. She must have done 3 dozen laps in the backyard until she finally landed in the above position – plushie in mouth.
NylaBone Fun and Fit – Vanilla Infused: This is perfect way to work on Meadows ability to break into items for treats. I threw this to our active 5 month old a couple of times, and she caught it each time. I have learned that despite the nubs and slots to get treats, Meadow figures it out. I love that as she caught this she was cleaning and massaging her gums and teeth. Since she is still cutting her adult teeth, I imagine this is a nice relief for her otherwise sore gums.
Exclusively Dog – Jerkeez: These Pizza Recipe flavored treats are chewy and we may have found the perfect use for them – due to their chewy nature we were perfect to put in our hand and let her chew from while we brushed her. She loved the distraction and we loved the well-behaved puppy.
Unique Petz Treat Launcher: I wish I could say that this I was able to confiscate this toy for the cats, as it would be a beyond perfect cat treat dispenser. Sadly this was not the case, as my father being an older man wants a lazy way to play with Meadow. I decided to let my father have this toy since sometimes Meadow’s energy is above what his is. In the place of the treats, he plans to divided up some milk bone treats, so she gets one treat that was made into many.
Also included for the human was a “On-The-Go” salad cup, dressing cup and a plastic fork. What I loved about this is that Jason and I were just talking about including salads into his daily lunch routine. Since this has been added to our plastic collection I will be adding salads to the lunches. I did not get a picture of this, but you can see it in the top photo on the lower left side. As the picture below shows, Meadow thinks this is a great idea and gave me many smiles of approval.
Pet Treater is a monthly subscription box service that has your dog in mind. Basically each month they treat your best friend with quality times that you and your dog will love. The boxes generally include a treat’s, interactive toy’s as well as surprise for the human! I love receiving this box, and seeing my k-9 sister discover and play with the toys – there is something special and magical seeing an animal discover their new favorite toy.
